birthday birthday birthday....

7 pounds of butter and 4 dozen eggs make for a delicious cake...
and totally worth turning another year older!

Whoopie!

Who doesn't love whoopie pies!  What's a whoopie pie you ask?  Two little pumpkin cookie cakes with cream cheese icing sandwiched between...WHOOPIE!

the kitchen smells amazing....

The croissants are baking, the leaves are falling and the Packers are winning.  I don't think I could ask for a better Sunday...

The key to a successful flaky croissant is to use butter with 82% fat or higher.  Yee-ikes but worth it!

Perfection

Okay I'm sure some of you are sick of hearing about the new stove.  Well unfortunately it's not going to stop tonight.  After chicken was roasted in it...which was delicious, but merely an obstacle on the way to dessert...I filled the oven with cookies.  And not just any cookies but Andes Mint Milk Chocolate Chunk cookies.  I wonder if my coworkers know what is about to hit them in the morning...

I might start sleeping in the kitchen...

The new range arrived yesterday and it's beautiful!  If you had asked me when I was 23 if a new stove was something to be excited about I would have laughed in your face.  Ah how times have changed...

the new oven can proof...

I ordered a new range which arrives on Friday.  One of the most exciting features is the "proof" button.  Now I can make all kinds of breads and croissants.  In fact, croissants might just have to be the first item to use the convection.  I'm not sure I've ever been this excited about a purchase before!  Only 40 hours to go!

Melty Brown Cow

I had a Living Social coupon to Whole Foods just burning a hole in my pocket. I have been intrigued by this Root Beer Milk everytime I see it and today was the day. Pleasantly surprised would be the reaction...like a melted summertime treat. (I do realize this completely opposes my previous post of fall comfort food)

If you get a chance give it a whirl...it will take you back to simpler days...

Add some Bacon....

As fall is upon us it's time to break out the Wisconsin Maple Syrup and enjoy a stack of silver dollar pancakes. Now if only it wasn't still 85 degrees outside!
